Walk for a Bus

Walk for a BusThe Cagliero Project is pleased to announce that our volunteers Catherine and Declan are undertaking with Fr. Mosese to walk around the island of Savai'i to raise much needed funds for a school bus. Fr. Mosese is the Principal of St. John Bosco High School and Vocational centre ands wants all young people in Savai'i to be able to access an education.

WHY IS A BUS SO IMPORTANT?

“Walk for a bus” will help raise money for a school bus to ensure students regularly attend school and improve their safety and wellbeing.

There are four main reasons that the bus will aid in the education of young people in Savai'i:

  • To provide alternative safe transport for students
  • To enable those who currently can’t afford to pay for their bus fares to come to school
  • To ensure regular and punctual attendance at school
  • To provide transport to and from sporting, cultural and educational events.

HOW BIG IS SAVAI'I?

On August 19th, 2013 our three walkers will undertake to walk around the island of Savai'i - all 177Kms! They will be attempting to complete the walk in 7 days. Throughout the walk they will stop in villages along the way and promote 'Walk for a Bus' and will also take the opportunity to discuss the importance of education with those they meet.
